Inasmuch Foundation improves news and information ecosystems through direct support to nonprofit newsrooms and collaborative organizations committed to strengthening communities through an engaged citizenry.

Journalism funding is available for 501(c)3 organizations based anywhere within the United States.

Prioritize*

The following categories are currently the primary initiatives, and the Foundation is interested in expanding partnerships and impact.

  • Oklahoma Journalism
  • Investigative Journalism
    • Within the area of Investigative Journalism, Inasmuch Foundation provides $50,000 General Operating Support grants to Institute for Nonprofit News Members. Organizations must show a commitment to state and local investigative reporting with proven impact. NOTE: There are no geographic restrictions for Investigative Journalism grants, though preference is given to organizations in the Midwest or outside major metropolitan hubs.

Collaborate*

The following categories are additional strategic areas of interest, and the Foundation will continue to support and invest in trusted partners. Organizations without a previous relationship with the Foundation may apply but funding in these areas is limited.

  • Collaborative Journalism
    • Within the area of Collaborative Journalism, Inasmuch Foundation funds statewide collaboratives focused on strengthening news and information ecosystems within their state. Examples include initiatives to increase trust in news, develop sustainable business models, or provide professional development opportunities and technical services.

 

Deprioritize*

The following categories are no longer strategic areas of interest and have been deprioritized. The Foundation may continue periodic funding for existing or previous partners. Organizations without a previous relationship with the Foundation are unlikely to be selected for funding and discouraged from applying.
