Inasmuch Foundation announces $303,500 in Awards

OKLAHOMA CITY – Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $303,500 in grants to 15 organizations serving Colorado Springs.

Inasmuch Foundation, founded by Edith Kinney Gaylord in 1982, supports education, health and human services and community enhancement initiatives that enrich the quality of life for Oklahomans. The foundation carries on its late founder’s interest in Colorado Springs by giving to nonprofits that are located in and directly serve the residents of the city.

“Inasmuch Foundation is proud to continue Edith Kinney Gaylord’s legacy of philanthropic giving focused on creating a positive impact on the underserved,” said Bob Ross, President and CEO of Inasmuch Foundation.

Grants were awarded to organizations for projects addressing the foundation’s areas of interest as follows:

Education

• $10,000 to Pillar Institute to expand educational offerings and venues to lifelong learners throughout the Pikes Peak Region.

Health and Human Services

• $25,000 to Peak Vista Community Health Centers Foundation in support of the new health center in Fountain.
• $25,000 to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care for the Word of Mouth marketing campaign.
• $15,000 to TESSA to update computers and software to increase the capacity, effectiveness and efficiency of core programming.
• $10,000 to Care & Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado for Children’s Nutrition Initiative programs.
• $10,000 to Partners in Housing for transitional housing and supportive services for homeless families in the Colorado Springs area.
• $5,000 to Court Care for the Pikes Peak Region for childcare services for low-income court-users in the Pikes Peak Region.
• $5,000 to Energy Resource Center to purchase carbon monoxide detectors for families in need.
• $2,500 to Comcor for a shuttle to transport low income clients to and from work and work related activities.

Community Enhancement

• $100,000 to Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center for special exhibition costs for The Year of Georgia O’Keeffe.
• $50,000 to University of Colorado for construction of primary performance and exhibit spaces at five-venue Visual and Performing Arts Complex at UCCS.
• $20,000 to Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra for the Maestro’s Circle.
• $15,000 to Pikes Peak United Way for Cradle to Career Taskforce, addressing community concern that their youth are unprepared for the modern workforce.
• $6,000 to Citizens Project to increase civic engagement in the Pikes Peak region through comprehensive local election education programs.
• $5,000 to Colorado Springs Choral Society for support of new artistic staff for 2014-2015 season.
